Answers to some common questions about romBay.com are listed below.

Why can I not download iso files for free?

Bandwidth is not free. Every file you download costs us money. Rather than completely suffocate the website with a huge number of advertisements, pop ups, fake download links and more, we charge a very small fee to access iso files and remove the download speed cap. You can find out more by visiting the upgrade account page. You can even purchase an upgrade for absolutely no money, simply by accumulating romBay points.

How can I delete my account / update my email address?

You can do both these things and much, much more simply by visiting your account.

Do you host emulators and BIOS files?

Yes. Previously we just linked to the homepages of emulator providers, but so many of these sites get closed down that there is then no way to access the emulator files. So we host them here; you'll find them in the 'Extras' category of your chosen system.

What do the funny symbols after the rom names mean?

These are Good Codes used to identify the roms. You can see what they mean by viewing the Good Code List. You can use the filtering in any category to only show roms with a particular label, for example you can search for [!] and only these files will be shown.

How do I extract the rom/iso zip/rar files?

Most emulators can play zipped up rom files, however you can use any zip program to extract them if you wish. To extract the iso files before burning/mounting, you will need to extract all the required parts using Winrar or 7-Zip.

Why does xxx rom / iso not work with xxx emulator?

Not all roms or isos work with all emulators and this is especially true of iso system emulators which are all still in relative infancy. Don't expect to be able to play all the isos you download on your PC (especially for the Dreamcast and newer systems) - it's just not possible at the moment. We can't offer any support with this; make sure you read all the documentation accompanying your emulator and remember that Google is your friend.

Why don't you store roms for systems like Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3?

These systems and games for them are still in production. Please support developers by not downloading games which can still be purchased new. We only store emulators, roms, isos and related files for obsolete systems in line with Exemption 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

What script is used to power this site and where can I get it?

One of the reasons romBay is fast is because it is a 100% bespoke system, written by us just for this site. The code powering romBay is not open source nor available for purchase.

Do you run a commission based affiliate scheme where I can earn money by referring people to your site?

No, we used to run such a scheme, but not any more.

Is romBay safe?

Yes, romBay is without doubt the safest and most secure emulation site on the web. Not only do we keep advertising and other intrusive media to a minimum, but in addition all our account areas are fully SSL secured as you can see by the padlock icon in your browser.
